Verify Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Audiologist Registration
In Alberta, anyone who uses the titles ‘audiologist’, 'speech-language pathologist', or any word title or designation to imply that the person is registered as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist, must be registered with ACSLPA.
Our Public Directory contains detailed information about all speech-language pathologists and audiologists in Alberta. The public directory is continuously being updated as a registrant’s status may change throughout the year for many reasons and new registrants may be added. Search by name or registration number; if you are unable to access the directory or need more information contact registration@acslpa.ca or call 780-944-1609.
The directory provides a visual indicator to quickly see the status of a registrant:
Allowed to practice in Alberta:
- General: Required for speech-language pathologists and audiologists working in clinical, administrative, teaching or research settings, including those volunteering in their profession in Alberta. These members hold a practice permit and may practice in Alberta.
- Courtesy: This registration allows speech-language pathologists and audiologists from outside of Alberta to be registered and practice in Alberta for a short term for a narrowly focused specific purpose, provided they are registered in good standing in another jurisdiction.
Not allowed to practice in Alberta:
- Non-Practicing: For speech-language pathologists and audiologists who are not currently active in their practice (example: maternity leave). These members do not hold a Practice Permit and may not practice in Alberta.
- Honourary: Speech-language pathologists and audiologists who are no longer active in their practice (e.g., retired). These members do not hold a practice permit and are not authorized to practice in Alberta.
- Not Registered: Formerly but not currently registered with ACSLPA and not authorized to practice in Alberta.
